Introduction

The less time you need to spend on administrative tasks, the more time you’ll have for solving production problems. The Quartz PCI product line provides tools to automate all facets of laboratory workflow from job submission to report preparation. PCI offers web–based and Windows®–based tools for job submission, image acquisition, data analysis and review, data storage and retrieval, and automatic report preparation—as well as the management tools you need to make it all run smoothly.

Typical Project Phases

Custom development projects typically progress through the following phases. A complex project may be divided into multiple parts, each of which will progress through these phases.

Envision

During our initial meetings, our experts will work with you to understand your needs and to develop a vision of your completed project. This will allow us to gauge the general scope of the project and to produce budgetary estimates and a project proposal.

Plan

Once you have decided to proceed with the project, it will enter the planning phase. During this phase, our team, in consultation with you and your colleagues, will prepare a detailed functional specification. We will then work through the design process, prepare work plans, cost estimates, schedules and system specifications. At this point, it may be appropriate to add, drop or change features to meet time or budgetary constraints.

Build

After we have established the plan, our team will develop and test the required software and documentation. This process will take place, for the most part, at our facilities. We will provide you with regular status updates as to our progress through the schedule. We may also ask for your input as situations arise.

Stabilize

During the stabilization phase, the software will be deployed on a test server at your facility. Your personnel will be trained in its operation and maintenance. Testing during this phase will emphasize usage and operation under realistic conditions. Our team will focus on resolving any issues that arise.

Deploy

After the application has proven stable and you and your colleagues are comfortable with its operation, it will be deployed on a production server and released for use in your organization. Final approval of the project will be obtained from you at this point.

Support

Our relationship doesn’t end with the deployment of the application. Should problems arise, our support professionals are just an e-mail or phone call away, wherever you are located in the world. We have a number of support options to choose from depending upon the level of response that your application demands.

Conclusion

Quartz Imaging’s experience, knowledge of industry best–practices and comprehensive library of proven, high–quality software components can help you to ensure the success and smooth operation of your custom development project. We look forward to discussing your requirements with you.
